Harlem Wizards!

Today we were lucky enough to have a member of the Harlem Wizards visit our school. He showed the students some fancy basketball tricks while talking about the importance of listening and doing well in school; having determination and persevering when tasks are difficult. The students really enjoyed the assembly and our very own Cam got to participate. Way to go Cam!

A Great Week in 2-O

This has been a busy week in 2-O.

In math, we continue  to work on using skip counting by 2s, 5,s, and 10s to solve multiplication problems. To help us practice we played a fun game called Coin and Number Cube Game.

In Social Studies we have been learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the great work he did to make our country a better place for all Americans.

First, we read a couple books and a weekly reader. After, the students played a game on the smartboard to see what they had learned.

Both teams did a great job and the game ended in a tie!

Last, the students made a mini book.

After reading about Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream, the students were asked to think about a dream they have for the future. The students have quite the plans for their futures! Here are a few.
As you can see, the students had some very impressive dreams for the future and show a great deal of caring for others.

SL. 2.1. Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 2 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
L.2.1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

It was a great week in 2-0!
