Monday, we had Pink For Lola Day to show support for a preschool friend battling cancer. All of the students were excited to show off their pink or red clothes and to see so many students and teachers wearing pink too. Our school was a sea of pink that day!
Wednesday, we celebrated Comfy Cozy Day. We wore our comfiest clothes, listened to the story of the Polar Express in the library, enjoyed some amazing music by Carolyn & Jillian's grandfather, and imagined what we would see from the window of a train. It was a magical day!

It was fun imagining ourselves on a train and thinking about the many different things we might see from the window. Check out some of our creative trains!
Thursday, we were lucky enough to enjoy a visit from an artist. We learned about different types of drawings, different drawing strokes to use depending on what we are making, and about different colors and how to use them to make our drawings stand out. It was a lot of fun!
Friday, was a busy day. In the morning we enjoyed a performance by The New England Percussion Ensemble. Not only did we hear some holiday songs and learn about different percussion instruments but we also learned how to make our own instruments from items we have at home. Fun!

Later in the day, we celebrated the end of our Gingerbread Man unit.
During the week, we had read different versions of the story and compared the endings. We found that in three of the stories, the Gingerbread Man got eaten by a fox at the end of the story, but in one version, The Gingerbread Girl, she outsmarted the fox and tamed it to be her pet. Very smart indeed!
To help us remember the endings of the different versions we had read, each student created a book titled: How did the story end? For each story, they drew a picture of the ending and wrote a sentence to match the picture. We continue to practice making our drawings and words match and this was a great activity to reinforce that skill.
To celebrate, we decorated our own gingerbread man and made a special craft. It was so much fun!
Thank you to all of the parents who donated the goodies! Thank you to Mrs. Bansfield and Mrs. Juwa for organizing the donations and thank you to Mrs. Juwa and Mrs. Ruberti for helping to make sure everything ran smoothly.
To wrap up our day, we participated in a school sing along. All of the classes sang at least one special song, and as a whole school we sang several holiday songs. It was the perfect way to end the week and start vacation!

I hope you enjoyed the sneak peak into our week before vacation and that you had a wonderful vacation week filled with family, friends, and fun! Here's to 2018........I for one can't wait
